I thought it would be nice to share some of my poetry here. And to keep it a little interesting, I thought maybe I'd change it up every now and then, so plan to change the poem every month (or whenever I feel like it).
Family secret #13
The third time he hit her
she established her new self
across the counter
of a Milk Bar.
When he called to say
I’ve missed you like mad
she made golden syrup dumplings
and welcomed
his fingers overlapping
behind her back.
The first time she asked
if he was drinking the takings,
they squalled.
And he hit her
one last time.
