Quadrant: March
You can find one of my family history poems, 'Post mortem' in the March 2013 issue of Quadrant, edited by Les Murray.
Also, a little unrelated, Phillip Ellis has recently reviewed both That zero year and First taste, so follow the links to see what he thinks.

Three Chords and the Truth

I'm not sure whether or not it's one of my Family History poems, but you can read 'Clap' in Etchings 11: Three Chords and the Truth (Ilura Press). Aside from reading my poem, there are other reasons to grab a copy: here are some of them.
Perhaps you can let me know if I should include it in my Family History set.

Readers' choice
I was recently thrilled to learn that one of my pieces published in Shamrock (Haiku journal of the Irish haiku society) came runner up in the Readers' Choice Awards 2012 for Best Senryu.
You can check it out, in Issue 24, here.

Black Inc's Best Australian Poems 2012

To top off a happy year of poetry, my poem 'Photograph' that appeared in Cordite: Jackpot! will get another show in the pages of Black Inc's The Best Australian Poems 2012. The anthology was edited by John Tranter.
Going Down with a secret

I'm pretty excited to say that one of my family secret poems, Family Secret No. 5, has found its way into the pages of Going Down Swinging 33. Head over to their site to find out where you can get a copy.
Audio crossing
I am very excited to announce that my short story Crossing, that appeared in Spineless Wonders' 'Escape' anthology in 2011 (details below) is now available as an audio download. Follow the link to check it out: there's even a free sample.
Spineless Wonders are only just beginning to offer audio downloads, so keep your eye on their site, and show them -- and Australian authors -- some love by downloading great Australian fiction in audio. Proceeds go to the authors.

That zero year
As part of our preparation for the 2012 Queensland Poetry Festival, Andrew Phillips and I put together a chapbook to represent our set. We called it That zero year and included most of the poems we performed on stage. Here's a glimpse of us performing at the festival. Photo by Jodi Cleghorn.

Queensland Poetry Festival

I am excited to announce that I will be performing at the Queensland Poetry Festival again. Check their website for more information, though a quick version is: the festival runs from 24-26th August 2012; Friday night event 'Tongues of Flame' is ticketed (the official opening is free), and all performance events on both Saturday and Sunday are free to attend. How can you pass that up?
It will all be happening at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, and my performance is part of a collaborative set, with Andrew Phillips, on Sunday 26th, at 11am in the Shopfront Space. We've been working on this for months and it's all new work. We also expect to have a chapbook available for festival-goers who just can't get enough of our words. Or those who don't make it.
On the Saturday night, from 8pm, every festival guest performs a single poem at 'A Million Bright Things'. This is an amazing event that you really don't want to miss. But then, I could say that about the entire program. Go check it out for yourself: I hope to see you there.

Inside you'll find information on: how to create publication opportunities; understanding your value and getting paid; why you shouldn't write what you know; managing your digital domain and much more.
Head on over to the Emerging Writers' Festival to organise your copy.
